July 26th!!

I’m losing track of the day and date. Doesn’t help when my Fitbit was on military time. Finally, sinked it with phone, so, no longer confused.

Today was a travel day, on our way to Mankato Minnesota, we drove to Blue Earth, Minnesota to see The Jolly Green Giant statue. “From The valley of the jolly, Ho ho ho Green Giant!”

Right next to him was a Dairy Queen!! Blizzard for us, Dairy Queen has been very popular in the states we have been too.

We arrived at our campsite at Sawmill Campground in North Mankato, will be visiting cousin Bill and Marilyn tomorrow.

Love going thru small town America. Our travels where to visit Winterset, Iowa. The Covered Bridges of Madison County was on my bucket list. The town is like going back in time with the older buildings and the courthouse clock tower was very unique.

Also, John Wayne was born there and George Stout. George Stout was the man who found and saved the precious art taken by Hitler in WWII.

Also, George Washington Carver lived in Winterset for a few years.

July 23rd

We left St. Louis this morning travelling to Marengo, Iowa. We are settled in for the next few days and will venture out early tomorrow. We traveled through Hannibal, Missouri when Mark Twain grew up. Lots of farm land with corn growing. And, a beautiful field of sunflowers which I did not get a picture of. Darn!! Today was a travel day and after we set up our home, we took a bike ride. Luckily, I remembered how to ride it. More tomorrow; A day trip to see the Field of Dreams and Dan Gable Wrestling Museum.

July 21st This evening, we rode the metro to the Arch. I really wanted to see it during evening hours. We sat in this small circular pod and rode to the top of the arch, what an opportunity to see how incredible the Arch is. Watched a movie on how it was built. Those men who constructed the arch had nerves of steel

Barry and I met our niece, Juliann, this morning for Sunday mass. St. Clare’s church has a beautiful country setting.

We decided to have breakfast at The Egg and I, they lost our order but enjoyed the time with Juliann.

Today, we visited the Anheuser Busch Brewery with the walking tour and of course, a free taste test.

We toured the most beautiful amazing Clydesdale stables and saw two of them.
